Creek to Bay Cleanup April 24

newsletter pic 04-17-21 running dogLet's keep our fenced area clean!

Join the FIDO team as we participate in the I Love a Clean San Diego cleanup on Saturday, April 24.

Even though COVID prevents us from doing one of our regular cleanups with a sign-in table and supplies, we can all pitch in and pick up trash (and poop!) that has been left behind. Any time during that day that you can help out is fine--just bring your own small trash bag and gloves (or even just a few extra poop bags)! You can drop your bag in any convenient trash can.

You can fill out their form afterward to let them know how much trash you picked up, or even better, just let us know and we'll put in a team report.

Here's a link for more info and to register. (If it says you already have a volunteer account, just ignore that and keep moving through the process.)

HEADS UP -- Coastal Commission to vote on Fiesta Island!

We have been told by city planners that the Fiesta Island Plan will go before the California Coastal Commission in May, June or July of this year. The CCC releases their agendas 10 days before the meeting, so we will have a very short window within which to react. When we get the date, we will be asking for all FIDO members to please email the Commissioners asking them to approve the plan, which includes keeping the fenced off-leash area intact and undivided. We'll provide addresses, talking points, and instructions at that time. This is the final step in saving our off-leash area, so we hope everyone can step up and help us keep the area we (and our dogs) love!

FIDO is a California 501(c)3 non-profit corporation run by volunteers dedicated to protecting and improving the fenced off-leash dog park on Fiesta Island.Third photo fisheye of beach
